Charlotte Daun

Charlotte works as a freelance harpist and Paper Lantern Collective community musician. In recent years she has contributed to various community music projects, including with the Bochumer Symphoniker and Jazzkiste, developed her own projects, and worked for Music Generation in Ireland.

Charlotte studied ethnomusicology in Cologne, researching the traditional harp music of South America for her master's thesis. She began a second degree in music education with a focus on jazz at the University of Wuppertal, but after a few semesters decided to pursue a second master's in Community Music instead. Thanks to a DAAD scholarship, she studied for the MA in Community Music at the Irish World Academy in Limerick, Ireland, from 2025 to 2026. Alongside numerous workshops, she founded and led a women's choir during this time.

In 2023–2024, she completed the Community Music certificate course at the Landesmusikakademie NRW.

Having grown up in a musical family, Charlotte has played various instruments since childhood and is closely connected to the German folk scene. On the harp, she is currently either touring solo, teaching at national and international harp festivals, or performing concerts with her project Duo Zirka, which moves tenderly between folk and jazz.
